Sweet Oblivion, 2015 - 2017

Chaos and order co-exist leaving us in “sweet oblivion” of the universal natural dynamics, the “oneness” and inter-connectivity that govern our existence. The titles of these works and the arrangements of the cells give a clue to the state or behavior of humans on mass which she tries to emulate.
These very time-consuming drawings, monotypes and paintings are made on Japanese Kozo paper which is often stretched over wooden boards and in the case of the pieces with black background, the paper is painted and sprayed black with acrylic paint. Jana uses archival ink pens of varied weights, white ink, carbon paper and white transfer paper to make the drawings. These delicate, intricate and meditative drawings tend to imbue a sense of calm and serenity despite originating from a dark source.
