Preservation
The leaf sculptures Spring and Autumn Memories are very fragile and if not coated in wax, they would quickly degrade. The wax conserves them as if to preserve a memory of a particular moment, as we often do through photography. Making and holding these physical objects bring memories back in more vivid ways than images would.
For the project My Nine Months of Drinking Tea (Time is Just a Big Joker), used and dried tea bags were collected as if to document time. The protective layer of latex preserves the used and dried tea bags, symbolically keeping the memory of the reflective times drinking tea alone or in the company of others fresh. These works are also closely linked to the Connections series.
